Happy Birthday Daddy!!!

Happy Birthday to the best man, Mr. Matlala, my papa, ntate, Mokone.

Papa,
Happy Birthday! I can't believe you are away, so far away yet so near, for everyone who knew you, knew you were one tough cookie, my hero, my friend, my shield and a loving daddio. You are my inspiration for how to live my life and act as a daily reminder for how to be a better person. You're a role model to everyone that you encounter and you never cease to amaze me. I live elke dag as if you're beside, with me or behind me because I know that the Father of the fatherless is always with me. Regardless of any situation, family always came first for you, we were your number one fans and all time favourite kids. Even in the heart of tax season, you came to all our prize givings, come rain or snow, you still made possible to attend school events like parents evening or AGMs.

Whenever I would come to you to help me figure out a solution to my problem, you always encouraged me to learn for myself, without ever giving me your direct opinion. However, this helped me think for myself and learn to solve problems on my own; and for that I wanna say "thank you". I remember how you would tease us, and the house would be filled with so much warmth, love and laughter. I aspire to be just like you when I grow up, hehehe Nooi reminds me of you, she's definitely you.

You were an amazing man both in and out of the house. You taught me the importance of respect, being the best I can be, and not taking life too seriously and to love L.O.V.E. You always said, "hmmm maara you look like me, one day I'll come to your school and ask for Magdaleen" *afrikaner accent*.  You instilled good, strong, solid morals into me and stressed the value of family.   You taught me that "two wrongs don't make a right" and how to create a fake burp, and the difference between ACTING and PRETENDING. Yes, I am the goofy and lively person I am because of you.

I am definitely your daughter.  I got your common sense, instincts, humor and logical thinking, uhuh I miss those days when you and mom would argue about it; "whether your kids got to be such smarties coz we got from mommy or you" hehehe, I think we got it from both of you.  My love for you is beyond unconditional, to the point of physical pain, OUCH!

Dad, you know you have corny silly 'Dad jokes,' that usually only I laugh at, but still, I love your humor. You never fail to make me laugh and cheer me up. You set the bar quite high for my future husband, I hope he's reading this (my LION). Coming from a family of 3girls and 1boy, you had to adjust and deal with a family of all women hahaha including your lovely wife, my mom, but you did this flawlessly. Remember how we, your lovely daughters really hated soccer; well...uhm ntate you'd be suprised, coz vandag we're able to join mom and Nsimbi as a fam and watch the 5skippers but nna papa I'm not a Buccaneer neh, I'm a Khosi for life.

Growing up, I held your finger, instead of your hand. As an adolescent when my peers no longer wanted to be seen with their parents, I never stopped holding your hand, even in public.  I was, and still am, always proud to be your daughter. Gone are those days when you would bribe me ka can of cold drink so that I could join you at the barbershop and get a haircut; I'd do it coz I was and still am daddy's girl.
I always felt safe with you. As a kid you think your parents know everything. Then you grow up and think they don't know anything. I'm convinced, you do know just about everything, even if you're no longer with us.

I know I can count on you to always be my shoulder to cry on and my support. You liked to be the center of attention, at home, malls even at work. But you deserve to be the center this time you and the amazing, wonderful man and father that you've always been.

Our family has had our share of ups and downs, but you never gave up on us. You have risked and given so much of your self for us, thank you. Thank you for all that you done for us. Thank you for being you. Thank you for being the best Dad a girl could dream of.

I am a Daddy's Girl through and through. I couldn't and have never pictured my life without you. But when God decided to take you away, he took you for a reason; but that day was not the end of me, or us but the beginning of what you had left behind for us. You taught us to LOVE, RESPECT and be BEST when our enemies wish to see the worst, and nothing beats the POWER OF PRAYER "POP"!!!

Just writing this for you, I am tearing u, because we love you endlessly ntate. You are my rock star and my real life hero.

"Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a Daddy!"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY. I love you with all my heart. Big Daddy is taking good care of us.

Love,
Rethabile M. Matlala
